2007 API WOMEN & FAMILY SAFETY CENTER- Sponsored the Queer People of Color Liberation Project, a theater-based program educating the community about health issues facing lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender people of color
ENVIRONMENTAL COALITION OF S. SEATTLE- Worked with Seattle’s Native Hawaiian/Samoan, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese communities to increase awareness of secondhand smoke issues and placed 2nd hand smoke ads in community newspapers
KIKAHA O KE KAI OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB- Educated members and other canoe clubs in the region about the dangers of tobacco use, and about how smoking and canoeing don’t mix KOREAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION - Provided Korean language cessation program in Tacoma, and reported an average of four to five new clients enrolling each month
MY SERVICE MIND - Conducted tobacco awareness workshops for Korean-speaking senior citizens at Korean senior clubs in Tacoma and Federal Way. Published several tobacco articles for local Korean newspapers TOGETHER!- Worked with APIA youth in Thurston County to educate the community, and worked with a local Cambodian Buddhist Temple in implementing a smoke-free policy
VIET BUDDHIST COMMUNITY OF PIERCE CO. - Published two anti-tobacco newsletters in Vietnamese, and distributed tobacco education materials at four community events. Also provided individual cessation services by phone to 20 Vietnamese-speaking individuals.
WA API FAMILIES AGAINST SUBSTANCE ABUSE - Sponsored annual tobacco-free hip-hop show led by Seattle area youth, and also involved with a youth led community participatory research project utilizing GPS mapping and photo voice on tobacco’s impact on AAPI communities.
WA STATE CHINESE CANCER NETWORK ASSOC - WSCCNA translated their Chinese language cessation website into English, and began their first year of Chinese language cessation classes
